The story of Sofea & Amir

Sofea and Amir’s akad nikah was the smallest wedding we shot last year, and one of the favourites. Forty guests, a small white heritage hall in Klang, and lunch for both families straight afterwards.

For days like this we send one photographer and keep the kit small. Adli arrived before the bride, photographed the venue in the morning light, and then stayed where the officiant and the family told him to stand, never using flash during the ceremony.

Afterwards there was time for a moment alone for the couple, a quiet photograph of the Quran from the mahar, and a long lunch of shared dishes where the families finally relaxed. Amir’s samping, a red-and-gold songket from his late grandfather, made it into the album.

The preview of ten photos arrived in 48 hours and the full gallery of 236 edited photos in 14 days.

“Our akad was forty guests in a small hall. They kept it calm and quiet, and the pictures feel the way the day felt.”
