Nadia and Irfan planned two very different looks for one day. The majlis sanding was sage and mint: a white-and-gold dais dressed in roses, matching mint baju for the couple, and a family portrait corner in pastel blue. The evening was black and gold: a songket portrait session in the garden once the last tables had emptied.
Two of us worked the sanding. One followed the couple from the entrance to the bersanding and the cake cutting. The other stayed with the families and worked through the shot list we had agreed the week before, which is how we managed the whole family in one frame without anyone checking their phone.
Then came the garden. Putri wrapped the hand-woven songket and set the tengkolok, Dian refreshed Nadia’s base and lips, and we had forty minutes of low sun, a white parasol and two people who were finally allowed to relax. The look from the trial lasted from the first photograph to the last.
The 72-hour preview went out on Tuesday morning; the full gallery of 468 photos followed in 21 days.
